Leavin' on a Jet Plane

"I don't know much about life, boy, but I do know that there are big days and there are small days..."

Well, today is a big day that starts a couple of big weeks!

Today, we're off to North Carolina!
I'll be singing at the Ol' Front Porch Music Festival in Oriental, NC, on Saturday!
This festival takes place with artists performing on front porches throughout the town of Oriental--how cool is that? This sounds like my kind of festival.

If you know anyone in the area (it's about 2.5 hours outside of Raleigh), send 'em on over! I'll be at 204 King Street (The McDaniel Home) on Saturday (October 7) from 12:00 - 1:30 PM! And you can check out the rest of the schedule here!

Then...

It's onward to Nashville!

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, I'll be in the studio! This is the final recording session for Album 3, and eeeeeep! We're so close! I know I say this a lot... but that makes it no less true... I cannot wait to share these songs with you! Soon!

Then next Wednesday night (October 11), I'll be singing downtown Nashville at The Commodore in the songwriter rounds sometime around 9 PM.

And then on Saturday (October 14), I'm greatly looking forward to putting on a house concert in Franklin. I'm excited to hang out with lovely, wonderful people. If you're interested and would like more details about this show, email me at bjeanmusic@gmail.com! I would love to see you there!

Here we go!

Franklin, TN

Hello, my friends!

I have a new date!

October 14 in Franklin, TN!

I'm headed to Nashville in October to finish the recording work for my third album (eep!), and as it comes closer to completion, I couldn’t be happier--I can't wait to share these new songs with you soon!

I'm also very excited to announce this concert in Franklin! It's an honor to have been invited back...

This will be an in-home concert (my hosts are lovely and their home is beautiful) and seating will be limited, so email me at bjeanmusic@gmail.com if you are interested and would like details!

More on that third album (album title, songs, release date...) soon...

Here we go!

"Why do we fall, Bruce?"

"So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

On August 25th, I was supposed to perform at Gamble Sands. We got there, got everything set up, and then during the soundcheck my guitar pickup decided it had had enough and died.

Without any warning. Without a word. Without explanation.

"But that's life, I suppose! You go along and suddenly... poof!"

I'm getting my movies all mixed up.

So I had a microphone coming through the speakers, but there was no guitar. After trying many, many things (and then trying them all a second or third time), I eventually had to cancel. Even though I was there. Even though a lovely audience was there.

All this to say...
We were able to reschedule for September 15th at 6:30 PM--thank you, Natasha and Gamble Sands! I'm looking forward to performing at the Danny Boy Bar & Grill in a couple weeks, and I'm praying it will be problem-free this time.

However, if something like that happens again... I now know what to do. If it happens again, I will turn into Kiernan Kane and become a wandering minstrel, going from table to table and singing anyway.

September 15th looks like it will be the last date before I head to Nashville in October to finish up the recording work for Album Three!

Real album title coming soon...

Thank You

The trip to Illinois last week… was so. much. fun.

Spending my first 21 years calling West Chicago home, I loved all the familiar places—Winfield, Wheaton, Warrenville, Geneva, St. Charles…

It was strange and wonderful and bittersweet how many things were exactly as I remembered them. It was like the only thing that grew up a little bit was me. Oh, there were changes, but… for the most part, everything was the same.

To everyone who came out to the DuPage County Fair and to EvenFlow Music on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday—THANK YOU!

Sally and Erv, Alison, Kristin, the Schmidt Family, Mrs. Rooks, Mrs. Butcher, Brad, Dave, Kathryn, Anna, the McCarthy Family, Uncle Mark, Jean, Mrs. Younglove, Emily, Lon, Dr. Frost, Mark and Nanette, Jim and Betsy, Mark and Joyce, Henry, Jeff and Emma, Becca, Sheri, Uncle Rob, Melody, Charlie, Uncle Todd and Aunt Cath, the Walker Families, Barbie, Aunt Dorothy Jean, Aunt Annie, Bob and Diane, Keith and Linda, the McGehees, Tom, Sue, Heather… And all the kiddos.

Thank you for coming to support me and my music on this mini-tour back home. I loved seeing you all, and it refreshed my spirit to talk to so many of you!

It was good to be home.

P.S. If you're ever in the Chicagoland Area and want some food place suggestions... Portillo's, Pal Joey's, Giordano's, Gino's East...

Yes, three of those four are pizza places.

Album Three Preview

Click here for a preview of Album Three!

One of my songs (which will be on that third album coming sometime this fall...) has been entered for consideration to the Independent Music Awards!! You can listen to it here! And if you like what you hear, please nominate it! Every listen, vote, and share helps tremendously.

This song is called "Like No Tomorrow".
The story comes from true ones, and those true stories and the people behind them are close to my heart. Because of this, this is the only time I'll post about the IMA's in conjunction with this song. Unless we win, of course. :)

Perhaps I'll get a Behind-the-Song post in the works...

I loved working with Joel, Gary, Paul (do you love that cello as much as I do?), and John to make this song what I hoped it could be. I hope you like it.
