"SMOKE AND MIRRORS" IS #1!!
If you voted for "Smoke and Mirrors" this past week, thank you so, so incredibly-to-the-moon-and-beyond much! I heard from a few of you that you were voting every day (all ten times a day!), and...
You mean the world to me.
Your support and encouragement and joyful enthusiasm are true gifts.
Do you know that?
Thank you.
There are a few reasons I think this whole thing is extra neat.
First, I have had no control. It has been entirely up to you to help "Smoke and Mirrors" keep playing on The Radio Cafe Top 10 Countdown for the past three weeks. Not only that, but it is thanks to you that it climbed.
Second, "Smoke and Mirrors" isn't exactly radio friendly with its 5 minute duration and its 30 second cello/instrumental introduction. The fact that this is the song that's reached the top... well, it makes me smile. I've struggled in the past with letting my songs get too long ("Wake Up America" was 8.5 minutes in its first final draft...), and I'm so glad that hasn't counted against "Smoke and Mirrors".
Third, the story behind this song has meant a great deal to me for a very long time. In a lot of ways, this song haunted me into writing it. I'm grateful it has this chance to be heard.
To top this day off, "Wildfire" has now passed a thousand streams on Spotify (the first of my songs to reach that milestone). And again... all thanks to you.
There are times I feel somewhat invisible. Going along and keeping on keeping on in the hopes that we just might be building something beautiful. And then there are other times. Times like these when I see we're already there.
Thank you for supporting this little indie artist from a tiny, apple town.
All the love,
Brittany
P.S. For "Smoke and Mirrors" to be included in next week's show, it needs enough votes to keep it in the running! If you have a minute, you can vote right here!
(And if you'd like to listen to this week's show, you can find it on iTunes, Google Play, or Spotify. Just look up "The Radio Cafe Top 10 Countdown w/ Christopher Ewing"!)
